Rudolf Meinl RM5

Post by SlaineSM »

Hello everyone,

I am helping my friend sell a Rudy Meinl 5/4+ CC.
This is a great playing horn that I’ve had the pleasure of playing on multiple occasions. It’s a big horn next to my 6/4 Nirschl it’s about the same size. This horn plays really well and has a great sound and is easy to play. I believe my friend is the second owner and I know before him the horn was always maintained by Tim’s Music in Sacramento CA which is where he purchased the horn. The horn has a couple of features added that I think really enhance the playing experience. There is a slide stop on the first valve and a pull ring on the third valve. There is also a pull tab that goes to the main tuning slide which makes tuning any note a breeze. The second valve also has a tuning trigger. If I had the money and room for this tuba I would buy it in a heartbeat but I already have four horns. The horn is located in Northern California just outside of Chico.
Asking price for this horn is $15,000 or best offer. Please DM me for more information, questions or additional photos.

I was the original purchaser of this instrument from Custom Music in Royal Oak Michigan. I can give a full detail of its pedigree. It came stock with the 2nd valve trigger. The main slide trigger was installed by Larry Minick for me, and the other work was done after I sold the instrument to a former student of mine. The instrument came back to me for several years, after which it ended up at Tim's music in Sacto.
