FS: 1929 King 1270 Giant Sousaphone $3,250 OBO

Hey everyone,

I’m selling a King 1270 Giant Sousaphone for $3,250, located in Baltimore, MD. I’m not willing to ship the horn, but I’m happy to meet for a play test/pick up within 4–6 hours of Baltimore.

I’m also willing to meet at the Tuba Euphonium Workshop in Virginia from February 18–21, 2026.

The horn plays great and was chemically cleaned and polished within the past month, with all major dents removed. It comes with the original neck and a new pair of bits.

For those unfamiliar with these horns, they were part of an early-20th-century craze for exceptionally large tubas. This instrument features a 28” bell, .750 bore, and weighs approximately 30 pounds. It’s in great condition, has a rich, full sound, and blows/responds easily. The valves are smooth, the plating is in good condition, and all of the slides move.
