Do you want the top 5 solos that a tubist might play for other tubists at an ITEA conference, or the top 5 solos a tubist would play in the real world that would appeal to a broader non tuba playing audience and hope to make a little money? These are two vastly different lists I'm sure.

The big tuba pieces are pretty simple to come up with...

Vaughan Williams: Tuba Concerto
John Williams: Tuba Concerto
Gregson: Tuba Concerto
Hindemith: Tuba Sonata
Broughton: Tuba Concerto
Wilder: Effie Suite
Kraft: Encounters II
Bozza: Concertino
Plog: Three Minatures
Perschetti: Serenade No. 12
...top solos a tubist would play in the real world that would appeal to a broader non tuba playing audience and hope to make a little money?
I don't know of any "real world" tuba solos that the general public would even remotely be interested in, let alone any that could be money makers besides the following three.

All "flashy" pieces...as fast stuff is all that seems to have universal appeal...

1. Flight of the "Tuba" Bee
2. Czardas
3. Carnival of Venice

Hindemith- Sonata (I really like the Tuba part; but it's the pianist who gets a real workout.)
Wilder- Effie Suite (Although, quite honestly, I just don't like it that much.)
Halsey Stevens- Sonatina
Broughton- Sonata
Kraft- Encounters II
Grant- 3 Furies (This seems to be making a lot of the audition lists for service bands)

Hindemith Sonata
Strauss Horn Concerto #1 ( on NY Phil Aud.)
VW Folksong Suite
Wilder Effie Suite
Broughton Sonata
Koetsier Concertino for tuba also

Vaughan Williams: Tuba Concerto
John Williams: Tuba Concerto
Gregson: Tuba Concerto
Hindemith: Tuba Sonata
Broughton: Tuba Concerto
Wilder: Effie Suite
Kraft: Encounters II
Bozza: Concertino
Plog: Three Minatures
Perschetti: Serenade No. 12

2. Czardas
3. Carnival of Venice
I think these lists are very clear explanations why even Tower Music keeps an extremely limited stock of "solo tuba" c.d.'s

Once again Bloke, AMEN.
