I posted something in the Craig Sutherland Props post below but thought I would start a new thread. Anyone on this board able to hear Dave Zerkel with the Philadelphia Orchestra this summer? He played the entire month of July but I was unable to make it over to hear him because of wedding planning. If anyone was able to sneak (ahem) a recording device(ahem) in, I would be interested (ahem) in listening to it (ahem).

James- who knows bootleg recordings are both done and looked down upon and hopes there are no moral objections posted.

What did he play with the Orchestra? As a soloist? Does he play trombone in addition to Euph? Or, was the euph a part of the orchestrations all month? 8)

He played principal tuba the entire month of July. I believe the orchestra played condensed concert cycles during this time meaning two to three different concerts a week (but never repeating the same music). Their schedule is on the website. No, he did not play euph or trombone during this time. Don't be fooled by how well he plays euph. Tuba is his primary instrument...... At least I like to think so.

I did not know he played tuba! He is as good a euph player as there is, but I never heard of the tuba playing. Wonder who is going to get the principal job, anyway? 8)
