probably not closely related to 606
I would not believe that this BBb would be considered related to the PT-606. It is rotary, smaller bell with different flare and, with the stated "sound has a rich color in the best German tradition", surely would have a much different sound than the York based 606.

None..........sorry the B&S logo
Thank you very much for the shared information!
...also a personal thank you for your participation in the creation of the GR-41. I do like my "copy" of your former horn very much.
I hope that the original finds an appreciative new owner from Malcom as well. viewtopic.php?t=9392

Actually Bohland & Fuchs was a "Bohemian" (Czechoslovakia) manufacturer. The Amati website mentions them in their history section:Jonathantuba wrote:Boland & Fuchs - it that a now extinct German manufacturerMike Johnson wrote:Now a copy (that has been designed from the ground up?) of a Boland & Fuchs BBb has been made and called the GR51 (PT605)

Certain of their tubas have a reputation in Europe similar to that of the Chicago Yorks in the US.

Here's the PT-605 pictured next to my Rudolf Meinl 4/4 CC for size comparison. I like to post comments when questions arise about the B&S because the one used on the Tuba World website-although it's a nice photo-makes it look like a monster 5/4. In actuality, it's not much bigger than my Rudy or the long bell MW 25 BBb. However, it's immense sound can make anyone do a double take and think they just heard a 5/4 horn. If I get some time, I'll post more comparison pictures and maybe a link with some sound files of me playing it. Is it worth the dough? You betcha.
