Hi Tony

Thanks for the kind words! I don't feel that the 2145 has held me back at all - just have found something that fits me a bit better.

My original idea with the 186's was to get two, and have the bell cut on one of them for travelling. After playing pistons for years now, just can't seem to get back into feeling as comfortable on rotors... After playing these 2 186's though I kind of wish I have never switched off of the one I was playing in the early 90's!

Thanks again for the kind words!

MG

PS - pics coming soon of the 2145 and laquered mirafone - unlaquered one looks like it is gone...also bunch of mouthpieces to come soon!

Matt,
Maybe I am confused or remembering the 186's wrong but the bell seems to come up very high on the horn from what I remember. Did you have any work done on the bell or am I just having brain freeze?

PS.
I agree with the previous poster that whoever gets either of your tubas will not be able to blame any shortcomings on the tubas.

The 186 is a tall belled - horn - this one is stock/original, with the only difference being that the 5th valve was converted from left hand to right...

Thanks![/quote]

...the rudy mouthpieces are regular weight - the rm1 is a medium funnel shape, the rm1. (dot) is the same with a little bigger throat - the 21 is a little wider and deeper...
