I've noticed that there are a lot of moutpieces that claim to be improvements to the Conn Hellerberg moutpieces, and I was wondering if anyone knew how these mouthpieces are better?
I want to know because it has been recommended that I switch off my Conn 7B to a newer model mouthpiece, like the Laskey 30H or Floyd Cooley Helleberg, and maybe some info will help pick the right MP sonner, rather than going through several 'experiments.'
Thanks in advance for the advice!

If your using a 7B, the Cooley mouthpiece would be a good choice. It has much more open sound than a normal 7B with lots of core to the sound. I think it has a more rounded rim too.
The Laskey 30H is an improvement on a Shilke Helleberg II, which is a different animal than the Conn Hellebergs. It is closer to the larger Conn than a 7B.

No one who tells you what you want to hear at someone else's detriment is acting in your best interest.
