You coud try using Firefox, and install the flashblock extension. It replaces the flash content with a button and only loads it after you click the button to indicate you really want to see it.

When your busy finding flashblock, have a look at the other extensions. There are loads of very handy tools hidden on those extension pages. Once you get used to mouse gestures and adblock there's no turning back ;)
