The key to postseason success is, beyond question, pitching. The Astros have a ton of it, the White Sox have a ton of it, and the Yankees, Red Sox, Padres, and Angels (without Colon) did not. It's been interesting that the Astros have been able to dominate the Cardinals, who have good pitching, and a killer lineup. Maybe the real secret to post-season success is Andy Petitte???

The last time the Sox won the AL pennant, 9/22/59 (my birthday), Chicago Fire Commissioner Robert Quinn ordered all the air raid sirens activated. This was, of course, 1959, and we lived with the daily fear that the Rooskies were going to bomb us. The result was mass panic. The police and fire emergency numbers were swamped and it took the city a long time to settle down.

Even a loyal Cubs fan like myself has to give credit where credit is due. The Sox deserve this honor.

Not really a White Sox fan but I'm glad to see any team get a shot after that long.

The way the Pirates are going, it may another 80 years for them to get back to the WS.

And I don't really care for baseball. I haven't watches a whole game, or a game on TV since the strike in the 80's. Wnet to game in TX(free tickets) and left, due to boredom, before the 3rd inning in '92. A few years ago I saw the first 3-4 innings of a Miss. State game (again free tickets) with my son, but left due to the cool temperature.
