Even if you think the White Sox will win the series, how on EARTH can you think they will only lose ONCE given the Astros current pitching rotation???

If the White Sox win the series in 5 games or less (4, duh!), I'll put on a pink tu-tu and and play "Polly Wolly Doodle" on sousaphone in front of a gang of Hell's Angels!!!!

I assume you are talking about the Pettitte, Oswalt, Clemens trio...

Well that trio lost back to back to back 2 times this season, July 15-17 to the Cardinals, and August 16-18 to the Cubs/Brewers. So they aren't impossible to beat, and the White Sox will beat Clemens, Oswalt, and Pettitte. Okay, they MIGHT lose to Oswalt, but they'll beat Clemens and Pettitte. They'll beat Backe twice. White Sox in 5.

Astros have some devestating pitching, no doubt. The key for them is going to be getting from their starters to Lidge without getting beaten up (which has been the key all year). The White Sox have good starting pitching, and a very deep bullpen. Edge to the White Sox in 6, maybe 7.

My bold prediction? Clemens gets shelled in game 1 (should he be the starter...if it's Petitte, I think he gets a win in game one...he was always awesome in the World Series...)

Gonna be hard to do, since the Astros lineup over seven games will be Clemens, Petitte, Oswalt, Backe, Clemens, Petitte, and Oswalt. Backe will pitch only once.

The Sox rotation will be Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, Garcia, Contreras, Buehrle, Garland.

On paper, the White Sox look overmatched, but remember...the White Sox rotation is the same one that pitched 4 complete games in the ALCS. In the modern era of specialist relievers, that is incredible. In fact, a lot of people are counting that against the White Sox, saying the bullpen will be rusty. I'm definitely thinking this will be a 6 or 7 game series, though I'm not sure who will come out on top (being an American League fan, though, I am rooting for the White Sox.)

I would say that since the White Sox pitchers pitched 4 complete games, even with the time off they have enjoyed, it will come into play. In this day and age, pitchers who throw complete games usually don't have "their best stuff" the next outing, so it will be interesting to see what will happen.

BTW, I think that the White Sox are very good this year, but the Astros are going to win.

That's what a fresh bullpen is for, especially when they play in Houston without the DH.

I was not aware of the rotation when i made that bold prediction. And i'm changing my prediction, since Pettitte normally pitches incredibly well in the World Series, the Sox will lose to him. But they'll beat Clemens twice, Oswalt and Backe. White Sox in 5 games. That's final guys.

i tend to make these crazy predictions from time to time...

Yeah, I was truly disappointed with the 7th inning "God Bless America" (and also with the outcome of the game). I'm assuming thats who you're talking about, her voice sounded like it needed several "tinkerings" that a recording studio could give her. Live performance was not very good for her.

Yes, the bullpen (including Lidge) have not really performed well thus far, but it is still FAR from over. Now they're comin' to H-town! I foresee great things in the near future for Houston. I still firmly believe the Astros have got a very good chance.

BTW, with 2 outs, just before the grand slam, Dye was NOT hit by that pitch, it hit his freakin' bat!!!

i know man, i feel ya there. just for that stupid missed call, the astros should have, and probably would have, won that game. i can't believe he thought that ball hit him. just looking at the angle at which the ball hit and and the speed of it, he didn't even need to use his ears. bull crap call...

The Sox outplayed the Astros, hands down. Yes there was a blown call, but that didn't cost the game. There was a blown call on Petitte's balk move to first to pick off Iguchi, Petitte gets away with that crap all of the time. Just saying there was more than one blown call that decided the game.
