'Aircraft' brand stripper will probably do the deed. You should be able to get it at most AutoZone stores. Follow the safety instructions. Rubber gloves and eye protection are in order.

I've heard of a "bright dip", how about a black dip? Could the Antiquing Gel work on a tuba? I bet it would look pretty cool, but would it protect the brass? Would my hands still turn green after a long hot summer concert?
