Actually I think this may be part of MellowSmokeMan's personal crusade to have these rock formations found at Mono Lake, changed from their current name of TUFA, to the more appropriate TUBA.

It appears as though he is doing some rock solid playing to make his point.

PS. This is a really cool area to visit. Within 1 hr driving, you've got Mono Lake, Mammoth mountain (rumbling volcano), the Devils Postpiles, and the White Mountains (with the Bristlecone pines - the oldest living things on Earth) - and Yosemite Nat'l Park (Toulome Meadow part)

It certainly is Mono Lake. A most beautiful sight along the Eastern High Sierras. We stopped off on our way back from Lake Tahoe.

It was a little funny because tourists kept coming by and telling us they heard strange low music coming from the tufa rocks and had to hike over to see what it was. Beside the pictures that my friend took, there are a few more cameras out there that took our picture.

When asked who we were, I answered, "I'm the Mellow Smoke Man, and this is the Mellow Smoke Band."

It was a lot of fun. We were up in Tahoe observing the Feast of Tabernacles.

Not too far off. What most people think of as "Heaven" is the earth. The earth will be beautiful all over once again. And that time is coming quickly.

Rev 5:8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:

“ You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth.â€

Gee... I hope it's not you fishing in Mono Lake? That would be a real waste of time! The only thing that can live in that salty water is brine shirmp. There are NO fish in Mono Lake!

Just for those that don't know about Mono Lake, it is located in the High Sierras along Hiway 395 and is over 400,000 years old. It is land locked, meaning that water runs in (when the Los Angeles Water Department allows it to) but water never runs out. Hense it's salt content. But the seagulls really like it there, with all those tasty shrimp and all.

Mono Lake is a nice place, but maybe I should post my photo too, since that's what this thread is really about. :shock:

This is the tuba section of the Pomona Concert Band last September. I'm the tall one on the left. As you can see they don't stock any extra tall blazers.

I spent two weeks in England this summer, and I have to say it's probably the most underrated country on the planet.

As for what I really look like:

That's my soprano trombone...

That's me in an old abbey in Wales, which is apparently the birthplace of brass. Also, I don't wear green every day, I swear.

Um... I took down the actual pictures because they were enormous. I don't remember how to resize images in html, a thousand pardons.

Jon,

that sure is a beautiful landscape. I enjoyed a trip to the Sheffield area 16 years ago.
I´ve taken some nice tours here in Vorarlberg this year. I´ll make sure to post some alpine pics from this area this weekend.

Hey Dave,

Why is the lady wearing a white blazer? Because she's a female? or the principal? or she has a silver horn? or she has blonde hair? or ?

Because she is also one of the associate conductors of the band. She plays part of the time and conducts part of the time. The other conductors wear white jackets, so there you go... BTW, she's holding her Besson 983 EEb. She is a retired junior high band director. She also performs with several other groups, as do most of us.

All these lovely pictures were sinking into the pages of TubeNet oblivion.

I figured it's time to float it back up to the top and make myself known so everyone will recognize me if they see me. I have no idea what that other animal is hogging up the picture. You go to get your picture taken and somebody else always has to shove their mug into too.

More of a collection of old friends than a real working quintet. We do Easter and Christmas Eve at an Episcopal church in Franklin TN. This was about 3 or 4 horns ago.
