Any immediate openings for non-premier bands??
Out of curiosity, (and with my biological clock ticking
) are there any immediate openings in any of the military's non-premier bands?

Bummer, not much open in the way of tuba right now. I filled out an audition form (Army) anyway. The last time I auditioned was for a reserve band around 93; I was accepted but decided against doing BCT at the time. A dozen years later, It is amazing how much better pushups feel when you have a family to feed!
I will probably go down to my local recuiter next week to talk about MOS 56M - Chaplain Assistant. May be a good fit for someone with a music major / religion minor.
And, yes, I have heard the joke "How do you know when a recruiter is lying?" way too many times.

The Army has the most bands and will not turn anyone away. The Navy and Marine Corps have fewer bands, but I don't have any experience or knowledge of their recruiting needs. When you come on active duty has a lot to do with when the training slots at the School of Music are open. Now's the time of year when a big influx of Army students arrive. That will slow down soon. I had to wait three months in Delayed Entry before I went to BCT after I signed the paperwork because of the school.
