Re:
I haven't noticed a difference in length between trombone and euphonium shanks, although Schilke mouthpieces come standard with a longer shank that fits better in Conn trombones...maybee this what you're thinking of?

Re:
I'm curious as to what mouthpieces had this difference in shank length? And were these in medium shank?

I have a large shank Schilke 51D that is longer than all my other euph 'pieces. It sticks out farther on my Besson 967 than all my other 'pieces. The others are 3 Bachs a Wick and a Wick/SM. All these others are identical in length.
When I play with the 51D I have to push my tuning slide all the way in, with the others it is pulled out about 3/4 of an inch.
I've wondered if this is normal for Schilkes or was it a manufacturing error. It really doesn't matter to me now 'cause I only use the 51D for a paper weight.
