Jabba

Post by sc_curtis »

Does anybody know where I can get the orchestral score to Jabba the Hutt?

I ran a search of the old Tubenet, and found out that Dave Kirk may have it for tuba and piano, but I really want to get my hands on an orchestral score for it. Thanks!

Or, does anybody know who I can contact to get information on how to get the score? I really don't know where to start, and google doesn't help me much.

We may be doing another Star Wars concert in December (we already did one in September), and they want to change some of the stuff we did. If they can see the score, they might be willing to order it.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Thanks TubaChris. I do have the part and 2 recordings, but the maestro wants to see a score. I don't know why: if he thinks we can play some of the other stuff, I know for sure we can do this (well, maybe the clarinet part might be tricky...) I have the librarian searching to find it through his "normal" means of getting stuff as well, and thought someone on here might be able to help.

If anybody at least knows of the publisher, that would help a great deal. (My part seems to not have one on it :( )

Edit: BTW, the part that you posted a link to is missing some crucial accidentals. If I ever get a scanner, I'll post the part I have.

BUMP?

If you have this info and don't want to give it out over Tubenet, maybe you could PM it to me, or maybe even email it to me...

I was under the impression that what I had was the original part, but I could be mistaken. It does NOT look like the one linked above. I haven't noticed any discrepancies between my part and both the recordings I have (Chester & Floyd).

Still no answers...

Well, it is too late for me to submit my request to the orchestra to perform this, but I wanted to update everyone who was interested in what I've found so far.

I am still awaiting a response from the folks at Hal Leonard, but they seem to be the most likely publisher for this. It is actually a movement from Return of the Jedi Suite. I'm fairly sure that it is only a rental, but I will wait to hear from them to be sure.

Dave Kirk does have this with piano accompaniment, but it was not done from the score. Mr. Kirk says this arrangement is illegal: one of his former students apparently wrote it from a recording.

I will update this as soon as I have a definitive answer.
