Mouthpiece Question

Post by ahowle »

Does anyone know of a mouthpiece with a bowl cup and a rounded rim that is just a little smaller than a PT-88? I really like the feel of a PT-88 but am just looking for something a little bit (but not a whole lot) smaller.

Thanks

A lot of suggestions could be made on this board. I think your best bet would be to check Custom Music's website. They have very exstensive spec listings for their mouthpieces. I would compare the 88 to the other "German" style mouthpieces in their line. I believe the 83 and the 90 are "smaller" version of the 88. The 90 felt VERY different from the 88 to me. I can't rememebr what the 83 was like. If you're close to Chicago, I would suggest coming to the MidWest convention December 13th-18th. Custom usually brings their trial mouthpieces to their booth and this would be a good way (and in the near future) to try them out side by side.

ah, touché... I will definitely send him an email.

However, I was also looking for other mouthpieces that are possibly of the same style other than PT mouthpieces. Does anyone know of something that fits this description?

Thanks again,

Try the following:
1) the mouthpiece specs comparison aplet at
http://www.mouthpieceexpress.com
2) the comparison chart at
http://www.ibowtie.com
3) the comparison chart at
http://www.dougelliottmouthpieces.com/mpccomp.html

This will at least give you a ballpark for cup inside diameter.
The mouthpiece express chart also gives some rim information as well.
The Doug Elliott chart gives some comparison as to depth, but I don't know how accurate his cup information is.
