Hard cases for Boosey Euph

Post by prototypedenNIS »

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a good third party company that makes cases that will fit a boosey 4 valve comp well and protect it well.

Has to be a hard case.

Would you like a recommendation for a hard case, or one that is flight worthy?

Just a hard case, any 3+1 replacement case would work just fine. If you plan on flying with it, you might want to look at the following places:

www.cases2go.com - This place makes custom cases that are flight rated. Not the cheapest place in the world, but their cases are top notch. They have all the molds for the major horns and they custom make the case for you. You can get a free quote. Expect to be in the $500 range.

You might also look into the Walt Johnson coffin style. I know a lot of pro players use these. They are molded fiberglass, and are good. The only downside - no storage inside the case. A little more economical, but not much.

My Sterling 4v comp euph came from Custom in a hard case that sure looks a lot like an MTS case. I asled Custom if it was but never got a clear answer. It is quite heavy, very solid, and has a serious amount aluminum edging around the lid flange. Only has 2 latches though and they are the simple kind (not the ones that require you to place a ring over the top lid catch and pull down). It also has a large storage box with a spring door and a mp cup. Did I say it was HEAVY. I might consider flying with this if I had to.

I also have, for a few more days, a Hiscox case that came with my VMI euph. This is also a nice case but is much lighter and I'm not sure that I would consign it to the cargo hold.

so far the MTS is looking like the best option

-The DEG cases don't have photos and no real specifics
-Getzen doesn't make a compensating euph so I wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't fit.
-Hiscox seems good but is based in England so much higher costs and Ballard doesn't sell to North America
-Berklee cases only has one photo of the closed case.
-and for the Johnson 719 seems a little pricey for a case with no storage for mouthpieces (several)
