So what horns are those? I'm assuming at least one of the Yorks and maybe Baer's Gronitz? Information would be nice...

My entry would be:
Okay, Gene. Is Perantoni's hat under Tuba #1, Tuba #2, or Tuba #3?

York York York and York

Post by tubiker »

Gene was playing one of the CSO Jacob Yorks

The other three are Yamaha's efforts in producing copies

So are those horns making the rounds at conferences and were they at Midwest?

That photo was taken at Buntrock Hall in Symphony Center, not at the Hilton & Towers where Midwest is held.

I realized the similarities of all the horns and namely the leadpipes after the post. When will non tuba celebrities be able to play these horns?

My biased post would be... ;-)

"That SSH mouthpiece sure makes a nice match with York type horns"

Wish I could have been able to make it to Chicago to sit in on the the horn and mouthpiece trials that Friday.

AB: "Oh Joy, Gene is going to play better than me on this one, too. At what point did I think it would be a good idea to show up at this thing".

Rich people too. I believe that the price on the Yamahas was something in the ballpark of $25,000. You might get lucky and see one at a convention, I doubt you'd be allowed to play it though.
You'd be wrong. I, a bonehead BBb amateur, was invited to play one of them some time ago. I declined for all the right reasons, heh, heh.

"The Richter scale reads about 10.0, Gene"

Here's another:

"Alan continues his work on his 'Pokorny 2000 BAT Master' android. He hopes to have them available at Sam's Club or Costco by next Christmas. Yorkbrunner not included."
