I haven't studied their history, but I do know that it originally started out with four members way back when gospel quartets were a normal part of radio. Somewhere along the line, they added a fifth member but kept the original name.
Style down South is Haiwian flowerdy shirt with cargo shorts and boat shoes with no socks.
Dressy style is Haiwian flowerdy shirt with khaki pants and boat shoes with tan socks.

What is she wearing to this event?
if she is wearing a formal OR Semiformal dress--suck it up and wear a suit--if she is wearing something slightly less casual then your khakis ought to suffice but always keep in mind many women believe

That is a very good question. They are true blue Khaki's by a major American Manufacturer. I deplore the light brown "old man" dress pants, gotta have the tried-and-true heavy twill/canvas pants that hold a crease so sharp you could cut cheese with it. Thank God British soldiers got sick of trying to get their pants to stay white and just rubbed the dirt into them harder during the Colonial Days in India. BTW, I caved and went with a black suit with black shirt/tie, better known as the "uniform" in Vegas. My wife was wearing the perfect little black dress with the perfect Dulci and Galbana heels. Looking that good, I had to don the "uniform".

Considering this was her attire, you made the right call. As you know, we are only accessories to whatever the wife is wearing. Khaki just doesn't go with the little black dress and heels.
