question on solos,(urgent!)

Post by tubafatness »

Okay, I apologize, it's not really urgent, but I needed some way to grab your attention! I need to know what the range and difficulty is of these six pieces. I need to play one for the solo competition that's a month or two away.

"Encounters II" by Kraft, (I think I'm going to get this anyway, just for kicks and giggles.)
"Sonatina" by Koetsier, (you can also comment on the Concertino, if you like)
"Sonata 5"?-Galliard
"Concerto"-Heiden
"Sonata"-Sibbing
"Sketches"-McFarland

Any reply would be appreciated.
Thanks, Aaron H.

I only know about the McFarland piece:

Not that hard. Range is from Fb below the staff to Bb on top of the staff. Lots of time signature changes:

4/4>5/4>2/4>5/4>7/8>5/4 etc.

There is a 2 octive gliss. going from a 5/8 measure to a 3/4 measure (3 of them)...that was fun.

Looking at that list, the first thing that comes to mind is: "If you have to ask . . ."
