A pole is an implement utilized to move a vessel in a body of water. The action of which is "Poling" as in Boatmen poling up a river.

Extra credit and brownie points to anyone who can do the following two things:

(1) pronounce my last name correctly
-and-
(2) relate (1) to this thread

Even more extra credit and brownie points to anyone who can do these two additional things:

(3) define my last name, in light of (2)
-and-
(4) relate (3) to this thread

(obviously, people who know me personally are disqualified, or at least you'd better nail all 4 of them or it's yer @$$)
