I would like to nominate myself as Diplomatic Officer for the Socialistic Republic of Vietnam (careful with your comments--no politics, remember? It really is the name of the country I live in.)

I wanted to be the Secretary of the Department of Funny Hats but I have changed my mind.

I think I'd rather be the Administrator of the Agency for Valve Oil and Slide Grease.

It's dirty work but the position is pretty powerful. No matter who you are, what kind of horn you play and how hard you practice, you will sound like crap without me. In return, I will supply oil and grease to your specifications at a fair price.

However, I will have to charge *everyone* a tax, no matter what kind or how much you use.

Thoughts?
Mark

Okay, if "Spelling Nazi" is taken, I want to be Chief Research Scientist, Department of Lacquer vs. Silver.

Mark,

You can't just "jump in" and assume such a position... :o

...You'll have to start as an assistant (15 mo. apprenticeship...no stipend for 1st 6 mo.) and work your way up to Deputy R. A.

The current Director of Tubalogical Research Studies (correct title), Art Hovey, probably won't be retiring for at least 14 years...
And didn't Art inherit the job from his father? I don't know if Art has any progeny but they would be first in line of succession...

So, Mark, the best you could do is Assistant Director of Tubalogical Research Studies, Metallurgical Coatings Assessment Division, after Bloke's approval, of course.

Would that work for you?

I must cry "fowl"! here... bloke is obviously suggesting that Mark take action with extreme prejudice as regards Mr. Hovey. Can't we all just get along!? :D
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Careful! Remember, not ALL arms are created equal. Some arms are more equal than others...

I have a right to any job I want, despite my total lack of qualifications. If I don't get this job immediately, I will not hesitate to call in Joe's favorite organization, the TCLU (TubeNet Civil Libterties Union). Not only will the TCLU make sure that I get the job I want, they will also make sure there aren't anymore crosses displayed on this forum!

Now that that's all settled, I have changed my mind from my first post: with the consent of Sean, the TNFJ and the rest of the membership, I would humbly apply for a position on the beer tasting committee.

Would you PLEASE refrain from disrupting threads with your "random" posting?

We're trying to conduct some important TubeNet bidness here!

At this point it appears that I must officially resign from the beverage committee.

At least until more beverages are procured

Yep. Especially with a major national holiday weekend coming up.

Mr. Chairman -- I move temporary suspension of the rules requiring approval of the beer in order to accommodate the weekend traveling, not the consumption of during the traveling, of course, unless someone else is in charge of the actual transport who is not drinking, but in order to facilitate protocol at the respective destinations of the members, whether across country or across the back yard.

Chair -- Is there a second?

Committee -- Second -- too early in the day for a third.

Any comments?

(From the Back) I'm thirsty!

The Chair will treat that as a call for the question -- all in favor, voice aye.
