The Ohio University Marching 110. "The Most Exciting Band In The Land"
4 September 2010.
Playing "Long Train Running"
Watch the sousaphone players dance!!!!!
This is my son's first year at OU and is a member of the band. I thought it was him in front, but it appears he has a twin in the band. Still proud of him anyway.
New Breed, Old Breed! It doesn't matter so long as it's the Marine Breed!
Cool, Brassdad. For some reason, I got very tired after I watched the video. I believe it was because I was imagining doing all those moves. I like it.
I was disappointed when I asked Michael what they used and was told Jupiters. Ohio University has used laquer at least since 1977 when I went there. But my band experience was watching them while drinking in the stands. (ahhhh 3.2 beer!)
His dream was to dot the I at Ohio State, but I think he will have a blast in Athens. Instructors seemed very good.
Oh.... (warning - more bragging to come)
Mike called me and let me know that he made 4th chair tuba in the university orchestra. The 3 players ahead of him are all 5th year seniors.
He couldn't try out for the symphony, as freshmen are not allowed to.
(sounds like self preservation)
I attribute it to his Jr High Teacher (first) and of course to Mark Thiele of the United States Marine Corps Band!
And Chuck is right...OU is dandy, especially around Holloween! PARTY!!!!

Not Ohio State Joe, but a dandy university at any rate.
Chuck
Ohio State does, in fact, still use the 20Ks, and Script Ohio is, in fact, still one of the most exciting things in the world.
EDIT: I apologize. This is not an Ohio State thread. I have a friend on the drumline at Ohio University (not Ohio State), and I love the band and the things they do as well.
