Berlioz describes a bass slide trombone in Eb, which I have neither seen nor read about before.
Have any of you ever seen one?
I did see a bass trombone in G in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY) some years ago, but it's no longer there.
He also describes the trombone F-attachment as a recent invention of Adolf Sax, and recommends it.
I heard or read somewhere that Berlioz did not play any musical instrument. True?
