Ben-Hur

Post by shinytuba7 »

Was watching the movie and thought to myself, that is very good music, who plays the tuba in the movie?
Does anyone know?
Just wondering.

If you're referring to the original, it was released in 1959. Perhaps a bit before Mr. Harrild's time?

I bet he means the 1925 film version of Ben Hur, with a new soundtrack by Carl Davis. I performed this years ago in New York with the composer conducting. It's 2+ hours of Prokofiev-Wagner-Strauss influenced bombast with little chance to rest. Fun! :)

Here's a snippet of the battle music (unfortunately dubbed on top of a World of Warcraft video clip. Feel free to ignore the video). http://video.google.nl/videoplay?docid= ... 6110&hl=en" target="_blank" target="_blank

Amazon says the recording's by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

I mean the 1959 version, the one in color. Thanks for the info.
