maybe if you havent ever had lessons you should start at about once every two weeks...but ultimatley the norm is about once a week. It keeps you playing and keeps you learning. Good luck! -Joe

I would suggest once a week and no fewer than every two weeks if money is an issue.

Definitely talk to the teacher about the frequency of lessons that he/she thinks would be appropriate. Some teachers prefer to teach a "longer" lesson say 1.5-2 hours and do it once every two weeks. That way a significant aount of material can be covered and then it gives you ample time to work on it all. I know personally I always prefered that, because with a standard one hour lesson once a week I never felt like it was enough time all around. Just a thought. Either way good luck and enjoy. It will definitely be beneficial any way you do it.
