NICE! Does she play as good as she looks? Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Agree on all counts! Love to hear tunes played well on tuba!!
Re: Me & My Tuba, Add You & Yours
Me, too. Maybe one day I'll put out an album and no one will come. Unless it's free for Tubenetters. It might make good fodder for discussions. HA! Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Re: Me & My Tuba, Add You & Yours
Better buy your 50-buck sponsor's card now... (congrats on the Kanstul? Did I get that right?)
Re: Me & My Tuba, Add You & YoursThe fidelity isn't great on Doc's recording, but the sound and playing (coming through) are outstanding.
Re: Me & My Tuba, Add You & Yours
Thanks! Yes, sir... you are correct - Kanstul 90 CC. Came with a Stofer Geib mouthpiece and an SKB case. The Stofer Geib is a very nice match to this instrument. I understand there are a couple of other mp's that match well with it also. The SKB case seems solid, and I really like its latches. I am excited to try the Kanstul Grand CC. Not because I need one, but because I'm a tuba junkie. I love big tubas, and if I can play a great BAT that has the York-type properties of the 4/4, I WILL try one sometime. Thanks for the support, Dale. $50? Not bad. Does that include a free cd...? Joking aside, our guitar player and I have been talking seriously about cultivating some work doing standards, swing, hot jazz, old tunes, etc. with a drummer and piano. I would play tuba or bass, depending on the tune. He is a great swing and jazz player. (He's shopping for a new D'Angelico archtop just for that purpose.) I can't promise it will sound like Sam and Frank or Marty and John, but there is nothing like that going on down here at all. So... why not? Everyone needs to stretch and grow a little. We know plenty of tunes, but this would be an interesting adventure adding tuba to the mix, not only for the players involved, but for audiences as well. I think people would dig it enough that we could make a coin or two (wouldn't get rich down here with it, but could likely pay for gas, food, beverages). It's fun to think about anyway. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Re: Me & My Tuba, Add You & Yours
Thanks. Yeah, the audio quality of the iPhone is much less than desirable. I may buy an inexpensive mic to use with it and do some track recording on it to see how it goes. I recorded some bass lines on upright, then played the head over them on tuba. Sound quality without an external mic is really lacking. It's fun to monkey with anyway until decent recording equipment becomes a financial priority Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
