Oh, yeah. Sub Zero and Wolf are both pretty stingy with their price lists but I'd guess that one the size of yours would rival the LIST price of a new 6/4 Rudy.

I guess you could yank it out and fill the hole with THREE crappy side-by-sides!

However... I do understand that they are a lot easier to service than most cheap fridges.

I think my refrigerator went out last night, too :(
Got home from church and the house smelled a little and everything in the fridge part seemed barely cool, freezer was still frozen. Could be related to the house being so hot and humid for a couple days.
If it is a new fridge and not a $100 repair, probably no used scooter then (even though longterm would potentially save considerably)

Most refrigerators do not have an evaporator in the fridge side... only in the freezer. The fridge side relies on cool air being moved from the freezer. I once had a box that didn't have adequate air flow over the evaporator in the freezer and would freeze up and block the air passages to the fridge side. It was a royal pain to defrost the freezer. It turned out to be just the timer that controlled the automatic defrost cycle. ... something that is very easy and cheap to fix yourself.

I concur. On one of my jeeps, I used a brush-on bedliner for the inside (helped reduce road noise too) but I love what it does for the grill. I have heard of people using spray on bedliner to completely coat their entire rocker panels.

See if you have a fan motor (that possibly distributes cold air from the freezer compartment to the refrigerator department) is
- so dirty that it can't turn
- worn, and (though in need of replacement) a bit of oil would make it work for a little while longer
- frozen over, so that it cannot turn

The fan motor broke in my wife's parents refrigerator last winter when we were at their house. Luckily, they live in Minnesota, so we could just take all the food outside and jam it in the snow to keep it cold. The problem though, is that it gets too cold too fast, and things that shouldn't freeze start to freeze.

The annoying thing was that it was only a 3-year-old refrigerator, and it was already impossible to order a new fan (they stopped using that part in the newer models, so the manufacturer did not sell replacement parts).

Regarding SubZero and Viking appliances, they are made in the USA, which accounts for part of the price difference. They are also intended to be high-end and commercial quality appliances. It's not something that everybody needs and not something that everyone should try to afford (or feel bad if they can't afford).

I am sick and tired of my basement project. Electrical, sheet rock, painting and ceramic tile floor are done! Getting ready to start the doors and trim. I am too old for this! :( :x :( :x

I checked all the mechanical stuff out, and it was clean and looked intact. I could hear fans turn on as I adjusted the refrigerator and freezer thermostats. I called the used appliance shop I bought the unit from last year, and they recommended a local repairman. He said took everything apart and said the two thermistors were bad. This was allowing ice to accumulate in the ducts that direct cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator ultimately blocking them, since they never triggered the heater coil to defrost those ducts. He came back today and replaced the thermistors. In the process, he broke the heater coil. He will be back next week with that part.
At least the total is repair is a small fraction of the price of a new fridge. Still gotta pay for the rest of the roof and the new HVAC.
The gutters need to be replaced soon, as they had been leaking water out all over the place since we moved in. I figured they were clogged, so I bought a 17 foot ladder and went up into them. The roofers had completely cleaned them out after the roof job, but they have split seams and other problems. I need to wait until I have the other stuff paid down. At least the water heater seems to be good (for now.) Can't think of too many other high-dollar things that should need replacement any time soon. Fortunately, most other repairs are things I can handle, but I try to stay off the roof.

P.S. Don't be dumb and spray the entire gutter (as in the video). I'm sure you're smart enough to ONLY spray the leaky places.

I got a call from my ex yesterday. She said I needed to come over after work and trim my youngest son's hair. His 9 year old sister had attempted to give him a haircut, and it didn't tun out too well
Clippers set at 3/8", sideburns trimmed nearly to the top of his ears, and sharply tapering the back made him almost passable for school on Monday.
