Man has pondered this question for thousands of years, quaffing millions of beverages while pondering.

I (actually) just now practiced (yep...me...bloke) for an hour.
oh...and not "Bordogni #3" sandbagging. I'm actually (yes really) somewhat tired.

Why would "who" win? They're not even in the question!

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Well I'm killing time reading what tuba players I've never met but am still strangely fond of, have to blather about.

I often wonder the inverse; What Aren’t We Doing Here?...

Re: What Are We Doing Here?
Are you playing them three octaves down, where they should have been written?the elephant wrote:Right now I am doing a lot of very rubato practice of my Kopprasch and Tyrell technical studies. They are *much* more musical when you ditch the metronome and just allow your technique to dictate time for you. And I am getting a World Class Sound™ right now, too, which is always amazing.
Re: What Are We Doing Here?
Wow, you are ten times the tuba player I am.the elephant wrote:Four. I am a real man, doncha know.
Re: What Are We Doing Here?
Here is your problem. You should never play these with a metronome. Using a metronome is non-musical. You are not, after all, ten times the player that I am.the elephant wrote:I say his tempo markings are good, but not enough. I want more. I play all these at Q = 208. If the unit of beat is not a Q then I do all the math needed to make that etude Q = 208. I am about to buy a metronome kit that will allow me to build a metronome with infinite tempo. It uses an Infinite Probability Drive. Once my tempo is set, I can play all etudes on all horns nearly simultaneously. I will never know where I am going or even what species I will be when I get there. Metronomes that only go to 208 are too limiting. And I am ten times the tuba player of anyone, ever.
