Guessing, because I have neither studied nor tested the market.

Hirsbrunner HBS-193, $10K, but it may take more than a week to find a Bb tuba player willing to spend what it's worth. ($25K new.)

Eastman EBB-534, $3200.

B&S PT-9 (Symphonie bore and design) six-valve F tuba: $4000.

Yamaha YFB-621: $4000.

Holton BB-345: $5000.

Besson New Standard (or something like that) euphonium: $1500 in good condition (maybe); $600 in current (playable but ugly) condition.

Conn 14K Sousaphone: $800.

Conn 48H straight tenor trombone: $400.

Olds Ambassador straight tenor (dual bore) trombone: $200.

Not that 1.) I would price them thusly, 2.) insured them for these amounts, or 3.) any are for sale.

Yeah. Even with that, there has to be an awareness factor applied. Cool kids are buying up these Eastman horns, and resale risk gets mitigated when a horn is en vogue.

The older 186 BBb Miraphone mentioned prior is probably worth $3,000, but it's not cool and per bloke's conditions, to sell it in under a week, I think you've got to price it around $2,000.

It's an interesting marketplace for sure. Tubas last a darn long time, so a lot of good horns are already out there and are serviceable. Now there is this flood of well-made Chinese clones or inspired-by horns that can be bought really cheap. Interesting market dynamics, that's for sure.

I think with the rules here - within a week and untested - it has to be a horn that has a reputation for being all-around solid and THEN the price has to be low enough that with shipping factored in, the buyer is confident he could re-sell it quickly at his cost or a slight profit. Someone has to be willing to jump in headfirst without looking.

TO THAT END. From recent transactions I've seen:

PT6 rotor - $8,500
Miraphone 186CC, 1960s vintage, sans Bloke-mods, $4,500, maybe $5,000 ($3,500 does it within a day)

Some best guesses of random horns that popped into my head as considered desirable:
Hirsbrunner HB2P - $6,500 (could sell higher, but not within a week without testing)
Yamaha YFB822 - $7,000 (though I wonder whether $7,000 is ever a within-a-week-without-testing price, regardless of horns)
B&S Symphonie model - $4,500

Disclaimer: I do not buy or sell horns often. This is just based on looking through the For Sale section occasionally.

Depends on the tuba. For something that is either rare, uncommon, or just desirable, I think the price just has to be "good", and not ridiculously low.

I’d bet my “good” mouthpieces would fly off the shelf at about $50 each with no questions asked, too. Gig bags for $125 would probably go in less than a day.
