I love that album.Christmas, Christmas time is near,
Time for toys and time for cheer.
We've been good, but we can't last.
Hurry, Christmas, hurry fast!
Want a plane that loops the loop.
Me, I want a hula hoop,
We can hardly stand the wait.
Please, Christmas, don't be late.
We can hardly stand the wait.
Please, Christmas, don't be late.

File is almost 5 Meg. It was encoded from one of those flat, vinyl, round things. Hey kids! You wanna hear what a "record" sounds like?

There is a website. Looks like I'm going to have to replace my vinyl with digital.

I always thought the first recorded rap song was Rapture by Blondie. I guess we learn something new every day.

Blondie wrote:Toe to toe
Dancing very slow
Barely breathing
Almost comatose
Wall to wall
People hypnotised
And they're stepping lightly
Hang each night in Rapture
Back to back
Sacrailiac
Spineless movement
And a wild attack
Face to face
Sadly solitude
And it's finger popping
Twenty-four hour shopping in Rapture
Fab Five Freddie told me everybody's high
DJ's spinnin' are savin' my mind
Flash is fast, Flash is cool
Francois sez fas, Flashe' no do
And you don't stop, sure shot
Go out to the parking lot
And you get in your car and you drive real far
And you drive all night and then you see a light
And it comes right down and lands on the ground
And out comes a man from Mars
And you try to run but he's got a gun
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head
And then you're in the man from Mars
You go out at night, eatin' cars
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns too
Mercurys and Subarus
And you don't stop, you keep on eatin' cars
Then, when there's no more cars
You go out at night and eat up bars where the people meet
Face to face, dance cheek to cheek
One to one, man to man
Dance toe to toe
Don't move to slow, 'cause the man from Mars
Is through with cars, he's eatin' bars
Yeah, wall to wall, door to door, hall to hall
He's gonna eat 'em all
Rapture, be pure
Take a tour, through the sewer
Don't strain your brain, paint a train
You'll be singin' in the rain
I said don't stop, do punk rock
Well now you see what you wanna be
Just have your party on TV
'Cause the man from Mars won't eat up bars when the TV's on
And now he's gone back up to space
Where he won't have a hassle with the human race
And you hip-hop, and you don't stop
Just blast off, sure shot
'Cause the man from Mars stopped eatin' cars and eatin' bars
And now he only eats guitars, get up!

Wow Bloke,
Nice answer on the previous go round.......Jack Kerouac reciting poetry with David Amram playing a bunch of instruments is it for me. Kerouac was attempting to get the freedom of bebop using words. David Amram still is doing a rap like thing in addition to actual world music at his concerts as opposed to the crap that is sold as 'world music' to people trying to 'culturally expand' themselves when they search thru the collection at starbucks. Hey Bloke, when are you going to listen to The Roots? http://theroots.com
Peace. Happy Chanukah (oops, I mean Holidays)

Hmm. I don't remember that part of the song. My favorite verse:schlepporello wrote: Well I've shoveled this coal 'til my back was bent.
My get up and go just got up and went.
My wife ran away with my friend Jim.
I don't miss her, but I sure miss him.
You load sixteen tons, how do you feel?
Too tired to work, and to scared to steal.
St Peter don't ya holler for me today.
'Cause I'm a diggin' the other way.
If you see me comin', better step aside
A lot of men didn't, a lot of men died
One fist of iron, the other of steel
If the right one don't get you, then the left one will
My second favorite is:
From pedal Bb to a very high C
Nobody can play the bass tuba like me
I've got one that's lacquered and one silver plate
I can play in a slow four or a very fast eight
And chorus:
You play sixteen tunes, and what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't ya call me, cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the Custom Music store

I like "Happy Chanukah" better, myself. And I'm not Jewish. I'm certainly not offended by being wished a Happy Chanukah. I'm reaching the point where I am offended by being wished a "Happy Holiday."ArnoldGottlieb wrote:Peace. Happy Chanukah (oops, I mean Holidays)

May I add a "Merry Christmas" here, too?
