It also seems like there were a lot of western movies that had theme songs where the lyrics were more spoken than sung.

My wife is convinced that Willie Nelson would fit the "rap" definition. Acording to here he never sings, mearly speaks rythmically.

would any of this guy's non melodic prose count as early white rap, or was he just putting on a "white-face" and completely imitating the words, messages, inflections, and spoken accents of early white rappers?

Nice answer on the previous go round.......Jack Kerouac reciting poetry with David Amram playing a bunch of instruments is it for me. Kerouac was attempting to get the freedom of bebop using words. David Amram still is doing a rap like thing in addition to actual world music at his concerts as opposed to the crap that is sold as 'world music' to people trying to 'culturally expand' themselves when they search thru the collection at starbucks. Hmm. I don't remember that part of the song. My favorite verse:

I like "Happy Chanukah" better, myself. And I'm not Jewish. I'm certainly not offended by being wished a Happy Chanukah. I'm reaching the point where I am offended by being wished a "Happy Holiday."

May I add a "Merry Christmas" here, too?
