Mary Ann for sure. Ginger is too 'blonde' -- even if she might be a red head.

In her modeling days, Tina Louise was quite stunning:

...and she's got a much longer list of screen credits (and in better movies) as well as having recorded four LP's. Note that she did not participate in any of the TV "Return to Gilligan's Isle" retrospectives. I submit that playing "Ginger" was a much more difficult job than playing "Mary Ann".

In the case of the first and last of your mentions...I don't think skanks should qualify.harold wrote:Notice that with all of the deviations from the initial question, there are some people missing:
B. Spears, L. Lohan, P.Hilton...
Either they don't make the grade OR many of us here are a bit older than we are willing to admit.
Still with holding judgment on the other (I blame the parents)
New Breed, Old Breed! It doesn't matter so long as it's the Marine Breed!

The other thread was limited to 50's and 60's, before the above-mentioned children were born.harold wrote:Notice that with all of the deviations from the initial question, there are some people missing:

And this thread was limited to Ginger or Mary Ann.

To tie all of this together, I present my theory of why Mary Ann is so much more popular: Of the two, Ginger is most like Paris Hilton.Rick Denney wrote:The other thread was limited to 50's and 60's, before the above-mentioned children were born.harold wrote:Notice that with all of the deviations from the initial question, there are some people missing:

As far as matching up couples on the S.S. Minnow, I always thought Mary Ann would have gone with the Professor (AKA Roy Hinkley, high school algebra teacher) and Ginger would have gone with Gilligan. She would definitely be the center of attention. And she would never be bored.
