HA! What, I'm supposed to post about *real* stuff here?
Dunno, but reducing yourself to reading the comments attached to the typical media "story" of any kind must indicate a serious boredom in Bortville!

Roger Bobo is giving a masterclass in LA this week. I'm going. Be jealous. I'm not playing. Be thankful.

Franck D Minor this weekend. I'm going against my better judgement and using a contrabass tuba (5450). It's fun. I'm exercising discretion.

UPDATE:
I'm posting on the Internet a picture of an accordion because I cannot do that while not on the Internet.

Played a job yesterday and before the concert a little old lady wanted "her picture taken with the tuba."
Not the tuba player, the tuba!
I was using a 6/4 CC.
It was ok that I was in the pic holding the horn, but she was tiny and got a kick out of the fact that she thought the tuba was bigger than she was.
I pulled over one of the bass players (who was using a full 4/4) and she lost all interest in the tuba.
The rich. They can be eccentric.
At least she didn't request to hold the horn. I've had that one, too.

It takes someone who is really accordionated to make those things.

Many years ago, while playing a gig for rich yankees at a posh southern resort, a little old lady grabbed my slide and wouldn't give it back. She actually hooked my outer slide and took it back to the dance floor while I was playing it. I finally got it back, and her response was, "I just had to have it. It slides in and out so easily." I felt fortunate to get it away from her without damage to it or me.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.
